WCCLT20 Code of Conduct for Match Officials
Purpose:
To ensure integrity, professionalism, and fairness, all Match Officials and Support Personnel must follow these rules while participating in WCCLT20.
1. Definitions
Match Official: Umpire or Match Referee officiating a match.
Support Personnel: Technical staff supporting Match Officials.
Team Manager: Appointed manager of a participating team.
League: WCCLT20 tournament.
2. General Conduct
Match Officials must not:
Act against the spirit of the game or bring it into disrepute.
Make public comments (including social media) that are harmful to the League, teams, or BCCI.
Engage in betting, financial speculation, or match-fixing.
Use illegal drugs or be involved in their distribution.
Behave offensively, physically or verbally, with players, officials, or spectators.
Cause distraction, obstruction, or misuse any cricket/ground equipment.
3. Disciplinary Procedure
Breaches may be reported by Match Referees, Team Managers, Franchisees, or BCCI officials.
Reports are submitted in writing to the BCCI Chief Executive.
The Ombudsman evaluates breaches and can impose penalties such as reprimand, fine, or suspension.
Penalties consider the nature of the offense and the official’s character.
4. Betting & Related Violations (Appendix 1)
Match Officials must avoid:
Betting on matches or IPL events.
Encouraging others to bet or manipulate match outcomes.
Receiving or sharing any information or rewards that can compromise integrity.
Failing to report approaches or threats related to betting or match-fixing.
5. Records & Compliance
BCCI maintains records of all reports, hearings, and decisions.
Acceptance of an appointment as a Match Official constitutes agreement to comply with this Code.
